January 2006, Message from the President:
Greetings, Friends and Fellow Members,
I would like thank our renewing members for their continued participation and the newest members who have joined since September of 2005, making our current membership total of 560. Our Association provides a place for meetings and presentations of topics in an energetic atmosphere of cooperation and fellowship. This Association is non-profit and is non-political in character and it is our members’ contributions and focus that make this possible.
This year the Association has changed its primary communication from paper and USPS to electronic information exchange and notices. Your notifications and advance registration for meetings and events are now provided electronically. Member dues and Association events can be paid in advance via credit card. We are updating our website monthly and posting an event calendar. Finally, our web page will be getting a major face lift over the next few months.
The Association is dependent on the volunteers to keep the “non-profit” in the organization. Without volunteers we could not hold the monthly meeting, maintain our numbers in membership, or maximize funds available for the scholarship awards. This year we have six committees for which thirty-seven members have volunteered their services and we are looking for additional members to serve on the golf and membership committees. The Committee Chairs for 2005-2006 are:
| Kelly L. Varnado and Robert W. Koenig |
(Co-chairs) Clay Shoot |
| John R. Dunn and Charlton Robertson |
(Co-chairs) Golf |
| Debbie Cone |
(Chair) Scholarship |
| Robert Berry and Steve Isenhower |
(Co-chairs) Membership |
| Debbie Cone and Jim Messman |
(Co-chairs) Program |
| Michael Jamison |
(Chair) Awards |
Again, thank you, for it is the members that make the Pipeliners Association of Houston the organization that services the pipeline industry. With your involvement, the Association will continue its mission to promote the advancement of pipeline engineering and operations for the mutual benefit of the members and industry.
Sincerely,
David L. LaGroue
President
